Being a "Porn Star" does not make a person unreliable nor does it make someone scum. After watching the news this morning, there's another news story blasting someones credibility because she's an adult film actress. It's disappointing to hear my favorite news anchor speak of such ill regard towards someone just because of what they do. If that was not bad enough she interviewed a lawyer, which is obviously a "professional" and not scum, who, and I quote, said "well, it's obvious she will do anything for money which makes her an unreliable witness."
I don't consider myself to be a porn star, by any means, but it's insulting to think that in today's society there are still such opinionated jackasses who judge others. And, in my opinion, I don't think being a lawyer automatically makes you an expert on other professions. If anything, it makes you someone who will most likely do anything for money and fame...not to say there are not good lawyers out there, I've married a family of lawyers, but I've also met my fair share of porn actresses and I can tell you, it's a business just like any other and there are good people who are having fun making money. That does not make them a bad person. In fact, that makes them smart. They're making money doing what they love.

You hit it on the head. No matter what profession you discuss, there are good people and there are bad people. It annoys the hell out of me when someone is ripped just because of the work they do and not who they are.

ReplyDeleteDon and Kristine you both are so right. People shouldn't be ripped because of their profession and there are more down to earth folks in the porn industry than in others, including journalism..

I have associated with folks who work in the adult industries for over 3 decades. I find them to be honest and productive workers. I have found lawyers on the other hand to be everything that I hate about human beings. By definition they are paid advocates. That means that they make arguments that they dont necessarily believe in just because they are paid to do it. I have seen them argue in court on a subject and 2 years later argue against the same points that they used. I like consistant up front honest behavior. First kill all of the lawyers. Shakespeare said that over 500 years ago.

ReplyDeleteRandy- You made another good point regarding lawyers which is why it baffles me as to why they're the ones that news correspondents turn to for a professional opinion. With that being said, there are some good lawyers out there, their profession isn't squeaky clean though and they should not be so quick to throw rocks.
