A New Fridge. WOOT!
Since most of you know that we've been having major issues with our refrigerator I thought I should tell you the good news. Just to give you an update- we've had a service call twice a week for the last month. First it wasn't cooling, then it was freezing and then it was mediocre and all of our food spoiled. Devil called them again today and they've decided that after two months of service calls and over $600 in repairs that it's time they just replace the damn thing. What's even better than that is the fact that we've had the fridge for over eight years and just bought the warranty 4 months ago. That's good karma, good luck or both. I'm not sure which but I'll take it!
Shoes!
I have developed a fetish for shoes. It's true. I don't really know how or even when it happened, but I think I might have been sleeping when it struck. lol. The problem is, I hate shopping and more than that, I hate spending money, unless it's on plants. I know, there's no sense in that seeing as though my plants die. Anyway, back to shoes. So, as I was saying, I hate shopping. I'm lucky because Devil will sometimes find a site with a huge sale on shoes and he'll surprise me with several pairs. I'm lucky, I know! Anyway, I have three favorite pairs that I wear out all the time. I favor them all, equally. I do not discriminate. All other pairs I keep for photo shoots and whatnot. While we were in Tampa, in November, two pairs broke while out. Strange because I've never broken a pair of shoes but all of a sudden two different pairs broke. I was distraught, to say the least. Those were 2, out of 3 pairs that are my favorite. I'm down to 1 pair now...that broke Friday night. Un-fucking-believable! Can someone please tell me why my mother fucking shoes are breaking all of a sudden? I am not hard on my shoes. I take care of them and always put them up when I'm not wearing them. Give me an answer, for the love of god, it makes no sense. So, now I have no favorites. I'm going to have to go barefoot or wear tennis shoes when I go out, in a dress. lol.

Sole Survivor
I've decided that living in the country is dangerous to my health but I don't think I'd make a good "city" neighbor. I mean, I walk out in my panties, I complain if I see our neighbor, who is 5 acres away, burning fuel like it's FREE. I love it and could not live anywhere else but it's definitely not good for my health. The reason I say this is I find myself wanting to blow up every deer, armadillo and opossum that I see. That can't be healthy, the hate that I have for these creatures. I should be able to live with them in the country, right? I finally have figured out what plants the deer won't touch. I've finally, for the first time, started to have growth in my garden. Now that I have won the battle against the deer I have opossums eating my ferns and armadillos digging at the roots. I cannot win! However, that is much better than Devil's vegetable garden. It's been growing like a bunch of weeds and all of the plants were starting to bear fruit. One morning Devil walks out and the entire garden is gone! GONE, with the exception of one lonely tomato plant that has no leaves, just the stem remains. NOW he sees the problem I have had with the deer. They're pesky little fuckers! Unfortunately, while they were munching on his veggie buffet, they spotted my jasmine vine that was growing incredibly fast. However, they don't like jasmine. It's a bit too woody for them. I just wish they would have realized this before they ate the right side.
So, maybe next month we will have garden fresh veggies.

Valentine's Day
What does V-Day mean to you? I'm always curious because it seems this day, like a few others, has been commercialized. It is the most profitable day for florists and greeting card companies and there's a huge expectation for couples that shouldn't be there, in my opinion. I won't deny that I get excited when Devil surprises me with an arm full of goodies, but he surprises me on other days too. He doesn't always do this on THE day, which is Valentine's day, but it's everything else that he does for me that makes up for it. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I'm not hanging my head in gloom if he forgets V-Day because it's the little surprises throughout the year that makes me happy. (like bags & bags of socks). I also think that people, ladies in general, have an ill-conceived idea of what this day is all about and that puts pressure on the men in our lives to try to read in between the lines. Is a bouquet of flowers enough or not even close?
I don't really have a "crazy person" story to share, but one year Devil cut out a huge heart and hung it around our first boxer's neck and he was waiting at the door for me when I walked in from work. I still have that heart and always smile when I see it. It brings back memories like the house we were living in, the smells and the good energy this dog had. That's what I love about V-Day.
What about you? Have you been with a loony tune on V-Day or did you break it off with her right before so you wouldn't have to suffer through the day with her? I want to hear stories, good and bad, so please share them with me.

The Holiday's
The Holiday's used to be my least favorite time of year. Well, after Thanksgiving, that is. I've always loved that day. The Holiday's, as in all of December. It wasn't always a happy time, when I was growing up. Not to say, I had a bad childhood, because I don't think that I did. It's just that the holiday's always brought back the sadness of those we lost, years before we should have. It wasn't, however, meant to be sad. Or at least that's what I have always tried to convince myself of. The tree never went up until about a week or a few days before Christmas. Until then, everyone was fine. But, mom, being a mom, wanted to put it up for the kids. So, since I was the only daughter that became my project too. Unfortunately. Before long I was doing it all on my own. To get to the point, Dad hated Christmas time. HATED IT! Until I was in High School I just ignored it. By the time I graduated, I hated Christmas just as much as he did, if not more. The last year that the tree went up I announced that this would be the last year, at it was. When I moved out I took my hatred for the holiday's with me. When I married I continued the tradition of hating Christmas. The problem was, Devil always loved getting into the spirit of things. He'd go out of his way to make me like it, just as much, but I was determined to hate it enough for both of us. About six years ago I remember coming home from work to find lights lit up all over the yard and Devil standing with a big grin. I walked up and immediately his smile was gone. You would think it would hit me, but truthfully it didn't until about two years ago. I woke up one day with only a few days to go until Christmas and told him we should decorate and really go all out. Well, to my chagrin, he had started hating the holiday's a few years ago and I never even realized it. What an asshole, I am. January of 2009 I made my first list of resolutions and the only thing on that list was TO GIVE DEVIL HIS CHRISTMAS BACK. That's just what I did, too. Last year we went out and bought a tree and went to the storage locker and loaded up about 45 plastic crates that came from his mom's house. We were so excited that we put the tree up as soon as we returned home from our annual Thanksgiving trip. It was awesome! I have never known Christmas as a fun time, until I took it away from Devil. But, I've given it back and we're both enjoying it. I've just finished decorating today and our house looks very festive and happy. That's what the holiday's are about.
Here's wishing you and your's a very happy holiday season.
XOXO,
Angel
