My Thanksgiving.

As crazy as it may be, my husband and I, along with his father and wife, her sister and brother-in-law and a few additional friends meet in Port Aransas for Thanksgiving. Most of us are all from the Austin area and see each other on a regular basis but we decided a few years ago that it would be neat to just get away when we all have a few days off, which happens to be at Thanksgiving. We load up our trailer with the smoker pit, wood, coolers and a few pots and pans and off we go. Devil spends the day smoking a turkey and making his famous mashed potatoes while my mother-in-law and her sister makes the stuffing and all the other fixings. I know you’re wondering what my contribution will be and believe it or not, my contribution is GREAT! I make the only thing I know how to make and that’s the Pumpkin Dessert. It’s not Pumpkin Pie, it’s much better! That’s not my only contribution, just so you know. I also bring table cloths and make sure the table is set and then I clean up the mess and believe me, there is a mess! None of the cooks in this family knows how to keep a clean kitchen! Pffffft! But, I never complain, usually, because I’d much rather clean up than cook. Cooking should be left to those who know how to do it and enjoy it. That would not be me.
I’d love to know what it is that you and your family do for Thanksgiving..
Here’s wishing you a wonderful holiday, baby.
XOXO,

Thanksgiving

My favorite day of the year is Thanksgiving. It’s the one day that everyone stops what they’re doing to enjoy the company of others. It’s the day that most people appreciate their friends and family and will join them over a table full of food. This day has much more meaning than Christmas will ever have, in my opinion. Christmas has become too commercialized and people have too many expectations for gifts and that’s disappointing. But, on the last Thursday of November no one is worried about that. We catch up with loved ones that we’ve lost touch with over the past year and will even take the time to enjoy a nap, before going back for more turkey. I love Thanksgiving!

Here's wishing you all a very happy Thanksgiving and I hope that you're spending it with those whom you love the most.

XOXO,
Angel

My Trip to MOTE

Kristine Cumz and I went to the Mote Aquarium on Monday and it was fucking awesome! Okay so, let me tell you about it...
We went to the counter, received tickets from a very cute old lady and then gave the ticket stub to an even cuter old man who wanted to tell me all about some video that was playing and how to get there, from the exact point that we were standing. OMG! He was adorable! I have to tell you though, Kristine was already walking ahead of me trying to pull me away..but he was just too precious. So, from there we walked right over to the sea turtles where another cutie was waiting for me to "educate" us. The first turtle we came to is a blind boy, named Hang Tough. Poor baby was knocked over the head in the early 90's and he was found by some local fisherman. The knock on the noggin is what caused him to go blind. From there we walked over to the Loggerhead'ers where one was hugging the side of the tank and her buddy was sleeping. The educator at this location was not cute, at all. I repeat, NOT CUTE. So, we slowly walked away from that tank to the next one, oh about 2 feet to the right, but he followed us! That fucker! There was a sign that said, "Turtles will bite" and Kristine told me that they're not an aggressive animal and they won't actually bite you. Apparently, the non-cute volunteer heard us because he immediately started telling us that they have very strong jaws. "You stick your hand in the water and they could just snap it right off, in one bite!" After we talked over the "Albino" Loggerhead turtle, who is not actually Albino, we moved onto the Manatee's who happen to be my newest obsession! OMG! I have the best video EVER! It was so fucking hilarious that I showed it to Devil and to Swamp Dawg over dinner who didn't think it was as funny as we did. But, it really was. I wouldn't find it near as funny, had it not been fucking hilarious! I'm going to bug the shit out of Devil until he uploads it for me...and then, lucky you, that's right, you, I'll add it to my blog...and you're going to laugh out loud because it is LOL funny! I'm talking hilarious shit!

Fall Back

I realize I just posted less than an hour ago but while I was talking to Kristine, I remembered that tonight's the night! Okay, she reminded me. I love it when we fall back! I'll be able to wake up at 7a without fighting it and I might possibly even wake up at 630 which would be even better! No, I'm not a morning person nor will I ever be a morning person. I hate mornings! What I hate even more is waking up and realizing my day is almost over. So, I drag my ass out of bed most mornings by 8a but when we fall back I can do it as early as 630 and that really does make me happy. OMG! You have no idea! I will be very productive now that I've gained that hour lost!
Don't forget...when you wake up at 7a it will actually be 6a so you should just set the clock back before you go to bed, unless you want to be pleasantly surprised tomorrow when you realize it's not 3p, it's actually 2 and you've just earned an extra hour. That would actually be pretty awesome too. At any rate, I'm happy that I'm being given my hour back! Pfffft! on whoever thinks we still need Daylight Savings! lol.

Our Tampa Neighbors

If you've read my blog over the last month you know that I've been in Florida, renting a house, for the past three weeks. We had a rough start to with our land lady, who incidentally forgot to pay every bill since July, but after the first week the trip has been awesome. Our neighbors, well, they're always drunk, but they're good people. Anyway, when we're not hanging out with Kristine and a few of the other ladies that live in the area, we've been spending an hour or two with our neighbors. In fact, we're probably going to go watch football with them tomorrow at some sports pub on the beach and yell like lunatics at the T.V.

She's half Cuban, half Italian and beautiful at 50 years of age. I'm not sure what he is, but he's a character, that's for sure. OH! I almost forgot to tell you about Uncle Eddie. OMG! He's 100% Cuban and he will talk over everyone and I keep hearing him say - "Angel, Angel. ANGEL! Hey, oh, Angel I wasn't sure if you were listening." Good lord! The first couple times of seeing Uncle Eddie put me in an irritable state of mind. So much so that I yelled at him once and had to reel myself in so he wouldn't know that I was about to attack him! Holy fuck! But, once I got over the fact that everyone talks at the same time and he always wants me to hear him over everyone else, we're fine and he is growing on me. Good 'ol Uncle Eddie.

Those are our Tampa neighbors...

Motorcycle Ride, South of Tampa

We went for a Motorcycle ride, south of Tampa and it was a great day for riding. We followed the coast line down from Madeira Beach until we jumped on the toll road that took us over the Skyway. Let me tell you, that fucking Skyway has wicked history and it's a little bit creepy, not to mention 25,000 feet in the sky. Anyway, from there we hopped on I275 and then took one of the first exits and followed Kristine Cumz and Swamp Dawg down 2 lane roads through, what appeared to be swamp-like terrain, but I was told it was not. We stopped for a rest in the spot that is known to be the last Indian/American war which was very fascinating to me. I mean, just think about what that must have been like and how the area has changed so drastically since then. We sat under Live Oak trees that were covered in Spanish Moss which gave it kind of an eerie feel to the history story. lol. Anyway, it was a great ride and it was awesome to see part of Florida that is different from the cities that I have seen.
Oh, and in case I didn't get my fill of the Skyway, we rode over it again...this time it wasn't so bad because I was looking for the call boxes that I was told are at the top...for a reason...I'm not sure if I spotted them but it was still better than looking 48,000 feet down to the ocean where there's sharks and dead people. I'm just saying.
